A very nice cottage in a good location.
The parking space is a real bonus. The sitting room is very comfortable and nicely decorated. Good, powerful showers in the bathrooms and comfy beds. Good wi-fi. Very big, modern kitchen, though we mainly used it for tea & coffee, we didnât really do any cooking as there are so many good restaurants within a few minutes walk. We quite liked that stairs are behind a door making the upstairs rooms feel separate and private. I couldnât give top marks for cleanliness and maintenance because of a few niggly things: One of the first things we noticed was that one of the curtains on the rail near the dining table was only hanging by its middle rings. We were also not keen on the grubby, used washing up sponge in the kitchen and part used toilet rolls in the bathrooms. We also found a used cotton bud on the bedroom floor. We have stayed in many holiday cottages and would have to say that his one felt very much as though it is a business for the owner rather than personal. In previous properties weâve had baskets of local produce left for us, some have even left beer & prosecco but most importantly milk. We had a seven hour drive to reach the cottage arriving late on Friday afternoon, a pint of milk in the fridge would have been very welcome. But these are just minor things and I donât want to appear negative, overall we would definitely recommend the cottage.

Maple House like Mary Poppins is practically perfect in every way.
The property was spotless and felt like a home away from home. The bed and sofa were very comfortable, the kitchen had everything you would need to make a meal and was fully fitted with most things you would need. It lacks a freezer and a washing machine but I've been in cottages that had these and never used them because I'm on holiday. The back garden was small but got the sun for most of the day and a patio set was provided. Amazingly enough so was the sun. The cottage is located in the prettiest part of the village and was very peaceful. I stayed alone and felt very safe. It is convenient for the community shop and the White Horse which does the most fantastic Sunday Roast. Don't order a starter as you will never finish it. A short walk out of the village takes you to East Leeds Airport which has a cafe where you can watch the dinky little planes. There is an hourly train service into York from the nearby station which takes less than 15 minutes. All in all it was a very relaxing holiday. I even potted a few balls on the miniature snooker table.

A very lovely cottage in a perfect location.
Everything inside was to a high standard and I would very much recommend this cottage as a holiday destination. However there were a few downsides, firstly (as mentioned in another review) there was no welcome pack - even a bottle of milk is much appreciated and the fact that the first thing you see as you walk in, is a bag asking you to strip the beds and put the towels in it citing coronaviros is not acceptable in my view. You don't pay a decent amount to stay in a cottage and then be expected to do much of the work yourself....especially now we are not in the height of the pandemic. It would have been useful to mention in the details how steep the stairs are up to the rooms and we did have the problem of one of the residents telling us off for using an unallocated parking space despite the fact it is right in front of the cottage and wouldn't be used by anyone else. Finally the check in time of 4pm could do with a review. I would have thought 3pm latest is more appropriate

I wasn't sure what to expect but I arrived and the property was unlocked (as described it would be) with the key inside.
In the kitchen we were greeted with a wonderful tray of treats - posh coffee bags, biscuits, home made jam etc. AND even a few doggie treats for our 4 legged visitors. There was a water bowl and towel for the dog too. A good selection of kitchen equipment means you can just bring ingredients. If TV is important to you, please note that the signal is weather dependant but there are some DVDs and Books (or just bring your own). TV isn't an issue for me but did enjoy a couple of DVDs. Wonderful scenery and sunrises (when not raining - but it is Winter) and have walked all over the area. Saw a few deer and lots of pheasants. Easy heating settings - which actually work (unlike hotels) helped me stay warm enough upstairs but cooler in the bedroom. Disappointed they are so booked up I am having to wait longer to re-visit (ha ha) but it will be worth the wait.

We had a lovely stay at Mews Cottage.
The decor is very tasteful, the beds were comfortable and having a designated parking spot is a bonus. The directions were excellent so that we were able to easily drive to the property. Just a few comments, which in our opinion, would have enhanced our break. We would have appreciated a welcome pack, providing milk and a few basic items. Having stayed at many holiday rentals, this is the only one which hasn't provided one. Also it would be a nice touch if a basket of travel size toiletries were provided. Again, this is something that many properties supply. We were also surprised to be asked to strip our beds before departure. The check in time of 4pm is a little late. These extra touches would take the experience up from very comfortable to excellent. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at Mews Cottage.
