What our customers say about their holidays

    • Moira - Verified booking

If you choose to stay at Hope House Stables you will not be disappointed.

An absolute fabulous home, beautiful, calm interior deco and soft furnishings. Top class comfortable bed linen ect. Family board games aplenty. On arrival we (6 young and older female relatives) were stunned by the sight of a mountain of fresh home made scones, some delicious jam and a tub of fine clotted cream! and some milk. Thank you Jane! Unfortunately the weather wasn't brilliant but that didn't stop us getting in the fabulous hot tub many times on our four day stay. Garden birds were many, bobbing in and out of the lovely, good sized garden and patio. Our host Jane was lovely as was her daughter, very helpful. The Mitre Inn, literally next door was very accommodating and we had some fun with the locals and visitors. The village has a shop and post office open until at least 19.00. Plus the 2 Moors cafe, a lovely little village, very nice local people. We didn't leave the village but with Barnstaple and Tiverton a short distance away, the area has a lot to offer. If you decide to visit Tiverton, ignore sat nav instructions and avoid the turn off to Rackenford, it has many large pot holes. We would definitely revisit Hope House if the opportunity arises. A huge thank you to our hosts.

Apple Tree Cottage was beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean - the perfect hideaway from the world, which was just what we were looking for.

The hot tub was private and added a touch of luxury. The garden was lovely, the apple tree beautiful. The bed was enormous and so comfy, the bedding and soft furnishings were excellent quality. The kitchen was the perfect cosy cottage kitchen, with the range and the round table. All the fixtures and fittings were high quality. The village of Gweek is lovely, and the local shop is a real hub and has everything you could need, with friendly staff. Our top local visits were Mullion Cove, a circular walk from gorgeous Helford to Dennis Head and Frenchman’s Creek, St Michael’s Mount and Minack Theatre. And we absolutely recommend the pasties and sausage rolls from nearby Gear Farm - best ever!! We loved every minute of our autumn break in the rugged Cornish countryside of the Lizard Peninsula and hope to be back one day. Thank you to the owners of Apple Tree Cottage for a wonderful stay.

We stayed for 6 nights in these beautiful converted stables.

We stayed with our 16month baby and we had a great time. The stables were immaculate, warm and comfortable. The hot tub with its views over the fields was a real retreat after a long day on our feet. There was a toy/games cupboard and a children’s book shelf which our baby loved. We enjoyed the delicious homemade scones and jam, thank you. Beds were comfortable and there was always plenty of hot water. We ate at The Mitre pub which is 2minutes walk and found the food to be very good with extremely friendly staff. The village has 2 shops of which we used both. They are well stocked. There are two playgrounds, one of which we enjoyed. We had a lovely holiday at the stables and would definitely recommend this to family and friends. We look forward to staying again.

We had an absolutely wonderful week at Hope House Stables.

Mike, Jane and family are excellent hosts who were always happy to chat and answer the many questions we had about the local area, places to go etc. The house is beautiful and we felt really comfortable and at home. Delicious scones for a cream tea were waiting for us as we arrived, plus treats for our dog. The hot tub was lovely and beds / sofas very very comfortable! Within walking distance of the house is a lovely pub, two well stocked shops and there are local food vans that visit in the week. A lovely peaceful location, with easy access to North and South Devon. A visit to Appledore for crabbing, as recommended by the hosts, was the best day of our holiday. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the property and would definitely go back. Thank you!

Workshop, Tiverton, Devon Our stay at the charming Workshop Cottage in Tiverton, Devon was an absolute delight. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the gorgeous views and the warm welcome from the lovely owners. The cottage itself is so comfortable and cozy - it truly felt like a home away from home. The peaceful, quiet setting was exactly what we needed to relax and unwind, but there was also plenty to explore nearby or a bit further afield by car. The location was perfect for discovering the beautiful Devon countryside. We can't recommend this cottage highly enough. If you're looking for a truly tranquil and rejuvenating getaway, this is the perfect spot. We left feeling refreshed and already can't wait to plan our next stay!
