What our customers say about their holidays

    • Alan - Verified booking

Accomodation was very modern and had all common amenities.

However, the only WiFi available was provided by the park and was very hit and miss depending on the weather, which meant that we couldn't use the Freeview or Netflix etc in the evenings. I think we may have been willing to pay a bit more if the lodge had its own wifi. Cleanliness was a bit of an issue. As soon as we arrived, our dog was fascinated by the underneath of the sofa, and when we looked, there was a tennis ball left by the previous guests, as well as quite a bit of dust and crumbs. Under the sofa cushions were covered with hair, paper, crumbs and general dust. The blinds in the kitchen had a thick layer of dust and grease and the hob was also greasy. One of the handles on the window in the twin room wouldn't release so we couldn't open that window. Bathrooms were very nice, but small and hard to manoeuvre in and the showers are very small. Weather didn't allow us to use the veranda but we did notice cigarette ends on the stones along the length of the lodge. A welcome book would be a nice addition to the accommodation, with some local information/places of interest/location of nearest supermarkets etc. as well as some information about the lodge and how to work the heating. We did find some user manuals for the appliances hidden in a drawer but they were quite difficult to read. It was a lovely location but a bit disappointed by the points above. The kitchen rubbish bin was a little small for three people.

Enjoyed a lovely week at 43 Pony Meadow.

Lovely modern lodge, great location, well equiped, beds comfortable. However, on arrival, there wasn't any bedding on the super king bed, just the quilt and a blanket in a heap in the middle of the bed. Telephoned the the owner twice, who advised she would get it sorted. 45 minutes later a young man appeared with some bedding and handed it to me (no offer to actually make the bed though. Good job I had my daughter and son in law with me to do it, as I'm disabled and wouldn't have been able to manage). We are regular visitors to the Lakes. However, as not all people know their way around, a welcome book would be a nice addition to the accommodation, with some local information/places of interest/location of nearest supermarkets etc. We have always had one at the many previous Sykes properties we have stayed at, and find them an invaluable tool. WiFi non-existent. The lodge was super clean, however, a bit of attention from the cleaners is required under the couch on a regular basis. Our dogs ball rolled under there, and when retrieving it, my son in law found large clumps of dust, a crushed alcohol can, and chips.

Me my 10yr old son and my parents had a fantastic stay at Mere Brook Lodge the owners have thought of everything needed to have a comfortable stay it is a home from home.

Well equipped and spotlessly clean so 5* to the lodge and the whole process from booking to checkout was so easy so 5* also to Sykes. The lodge is situated in beautiful woodland within White Cross Bay Holiday Park which overall is stunning being situated right on Lake Windemere. My only negative was the layout of the main entertainment complex run by Parkdean those who do not like holiday park type holidays should avoid the entertainment area as it can be very noisy. The restaurant eating area would be far better if it was seperste from the entertainment area for those wishing to enjoy a chilled out meal or drink without being snobby the standard of the overall park and lodges is a level above the Parkdean complex but i realise it does provide a service some will enjoy especially those with young children.Overall i would recommend White Cross Bay and especially Mere Brook Lodge.

Really clean and well appointed property, we had a lovely 5 days break in Mere Brook Lodge.

The beds are really comfy, the shower is amazing and there was just enough room for our family of 4. Our eldest kept saying how grateful she was that the owners rented their cabin out so we could stay in it (we meant to write that in the visitors book but by the time I remembered, we were all packed and ready to leave and I didn't have a pen!). The cabin is situated on a densely packed holiday resort. Standards are obviously high - there are a lot of (very beautiful) slate signs dotted around with instructions on how to keep the place looking immaculate. There are a lot of ornaments in the property which we needed to move out of the way of our toddler - I was very worried she might accidentally break something but actually it was find. Thank you for a lovely stay. It was just the break we needed.

The beds are lovely and comfortable and great wardrobe storage.

The lodge is light and airy with a nice layout. The only negatives were cleanliness. The balcony doors were filthy, I though the outside balcony looks uncared for, it would be good to have the addition of a sun umbrella and relaxer chairs. The balcony and chairs had not been brushed. We did find the cushions on our 3rd day. There was a lot of dog hair and a bone under the settee. There was a mop brush but no water bucket or hoover. The bedroom blinds were dusty. The cleaning issues inside did not affect my stay , I just thought it should be mentioned so you can make sure the place is cleaned with a bit more care and attention. The ouside comfort would have improved my stay. Especially in view of the price for a short weekend. Generally a well presented property and a|I would stay again.
