What our customers say about their holidays

    • Helena - Verified booking

We had a lovely stay in Elm Cottage with our small dog, Norton.

The cottage had everything we could need and was well equipped. It was warm and clean and very comfortable. We had the sun rise to the front and sun set to the rear of the cottage. Quite special. There was a lovely wooded area at the bottom of the site which we hadn't expected, which we all enjoyed. There was a good sized slabbed area with a drying line to the rear of the property and views out over the fields. If a larger dog we to stay here, guests would have to be vigilant about the dog managing to go over the back fence. However, a more substantial barrier would have spoiled the very enjoyable views. Vose Farm was well situated for our travels around this part of Cornwall. We were approximately 1 mile away from The Crown Inn, St Ewe where we had an evening meal. Our dog was made welcome. We were approx 6-8 miles from The Polgooth Inn, Polgooth which was a very busy pub (you might wish to book a table), where we and our dog were made very welcome. We had a very comfortable and happy stay at Vose Farm and have no hesitation in recommending this holiday venue.

We recently stayed at Elm Cottage in Cornwall and it was an absolute pleasure.

The cottage is purpose built, but it still feels like a home away from home. The owner welcomed us shortly after our arrival and made sure that everything was in order before leaving us to enjoy our stay. The cottage was immaculate and well-equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The underfloor heating kept us warm and cozy in December, and the powerful shower had plenty of hot water. The cottage was comfortable and not overlooked, so we had plenty of privacy. We had great views from the back of the cottage. The wooded outdoor area was perfect for a quick doggie leg stretch. The cottage is dog friendly, rather than just dog tolerant. The only thing that would have made it even better would be a higher rear fence in the back garden as our labradoodle was able to clear it. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Elm Cottage and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and well-equipped home away from home in Cornwall.

A gloriously peaceful Christmas week in Elm Cottage with gorgeous surroundings.

Well located for exploring the coast. Cottage was spotlessly clean and beautifully finished. Very dog friendly and family friendly with the play park and nearby woodland for walks. We have no particular accessibility needs ourselves but nevertheless very much appreciated the wet room and accessible parking. It would be useful to have a “welcome pack” of types with info of the local area (takeaway, doctors etc), user guide for the oven and instructions on what to do with bedding, towels etc at departure. Although there was cleaning equipment, some products (even just some wipes) would be helpful and enable guests to keep on top of the cleanliness (especially after cooking Christmas dinner!). A couple of teabags & a pint of milk to get you started would also be a nice touch to save the need to get out to the shops immediately after arrival. These are very small niggles though and we would very much like to return to Vose Farm in future.

The holiday annex was situated in a perfect location, not more than ten minutes from the sea and Dartmouth.

The local store not far away and in the village post office had all the items one would need to be self sufficient. Even down to the birthday card left at home for the wife. The break was for a period of one week and unfortunately weather this year wasn’t to kind and ment only one day on the beach at Slapton sands. The unfortunate situation was our blind dog who developed cataract a week earlier caught his toe nail in the shingles at the annex and needed veterinary care immediately back home. But we enjoyed the three days at the annex before returning home early. We would certainly recommend this accommodation to anyone wanting to visit south Devon. My only critique would be to lay artificial grass instead of shingles in the garden to prevent small dogs tripping or stumbling.

Lovely small bungalow accommodation, just right for two people.

Situated down a country lane, so very peaceful, but only a few miles from Dartmouth and the coast. Ideal for visiting South Devon. Both Torquay and Plymouth are around an hour away, with plenty of other small towns and other attractions within that range. There are quite a few National Trust properties in the area, so having a membership to the NT is a good idea. Another good trip is to visit Buckfast Abbey, its a lovely peaceful location. The only issue we had with the accommodation was due to my wife's poor mobility.she struggled on the small stones used outside the property for the outdoor seating area and also the two steps up to the property itself as there is no rail to hold onto. Will definitely consider the property again next time we are holidaying in the area.
