What our customers say about their holidays

    • Kenneth Daniel - Verified booking

We came to Pine Cottage after finding it through Sykes and a lovely lady called Paula helped us!

When we arrived the cottage was nice and cosy, the fire is lovely! There was only one extra toilet roll and half a roll of kitchen roll and no extra dishwasher tablets so we had to buy all those things ourself, but didn’t complain. The plates and cups are all mainly chipped which is really bad for germs especially in this climate! The beds were super comfy and the garden was good for the dogs although not very private. We enjoyed the stay and didn’t complain about any of the above, just got on with it! When it came to near the end of our stay, my partner had had a migraine the whole stay and so she asked the owner if we could maybe stay an extra few nights and pay as it was not booked out! The owner replied saying yes and would do it as an ‘owners booking’ and said a price, which we accepted and dropped the cash off the next day to then receive a abrupt text saying that she meant ‘per night’, which was not stated at all and was an error on the owners part. We let her know we had been and done a full shop of fresh and frozen food and my partner had had her medication sent recorded delivery but the owner didn’t care, she just was very abrupt and came across quite aggressive on the telephone call, where she stated she would not wait in to send back the medication, as she’s too busy! So we are now out of pocket from the shopping, the medication, the extras we had to buy and the customer service or lack of it was appalling as the error was total in the owners hands. We will not be returning or recommending as the way the situation was dealt with was very unprofessional and unkind. Paula was fab though and very lovely throughout and helpful but due to the owners lack of acknowledgment of her own misdoing, the trip became very sour!

A beautiful property, so cosy and decorated to a high standard.

There are plenty of practical items and a selection of books, DVDs and even some binoculars for watching the local wildlife. The grounds are wonderful, perfect for an evening stroll. Unfortunately we weren’t blessed with good weather so we didn’t have much chance to enjoy, however we did get to meet the two adorable Highland cows. The Loft is situated between Scarborough and Whitby, but not too far from Staithes, Robin Hood’s Bay and the picturesque Sandsend (I would definitely recommend a visit!). The Clevelend Way walk from Ravenscar to Robin Hood’s Bay is lovely too - very hilly, but the views are wonderful. Also not far away is the pretty Falling Foss waterfall and tea gardens. A perfect place to just sit, observe and listen to nature. The owners, Pippa and Graham, are very friendly and helpful and they are available if you need anything. They they have a very friendly dog too, who greeted us like old friends! We had a lovely time whilst we were there (we had to leave early due to a family emergency) but the few days we had there were appreciated and allowed us to recharge our batteries in a relaxing, pretty and comfortable environment. I would thoroughly recommend a visit to The Loft. Thank you.

Fantastic cottage in a quiet area of Snainton, which is right in between Pickering (9 miles) and Scarborough (12 miles), but you can also get to Whitby, Bridlington, Malton and York very easily (all within an hour's drive).

We took our near 2 year old son and all the amenities are there available to take a young child (high chair, cutlery, plastic plates, cups and baby gate at the bottom of the steps). Both bedrooms are king sized so it was very easy to put our sons travel cot in either room (we chose the room with the two single beds in), which is something that we have struggled with in the past. There is plenty of off-street parking and very good washing facilities. It is next to Snainton Riding school, so our son of course enjoyed looking at the horses. The only downside is there is no local convenience store, with the closest being 5 miles away, but that definitely should not put someone off. With the fact that the cottage is joined with Pine Cottage, effectively a person could book up a 5 bedroom property, for say grandparents to come along. That is something we are definitely looking at in the future, and if we were thinking of the Yorkshire Moors area, this would certainly be our first choice.

A lovely cottage with all amenities thought of by the hosts.

There were fresh baked goods on arrival and even a bottle of milk! With gorgeous scenery all around, The Loft was a wonderfully cosy place to snuggle up after a day of exploring the local coastline, and listen to the wind howling outside... Graham was kind enough to show me his extensive fossil collection when I told him that the natural history of the area was a huge draw for me. He told us good walks to take, places to eat, places to hunt for fossils and he even gave me a couple that he found on the beach! The only thing that I would change; and it really is a minor detail!- a small sofa or cuddle chair to replace the tub chairs, as we didn't find them particularly comfortable. We'd love to return in the high season!

We had a much needed and well deserved peaceful long weekend break.

It was for my birthday that happened to coincide with the Coronation. My partner and I have a hectic job involving shift work. We appreciated the location, very beautiful and quiet. The scenery is gorgeous. Friendly welcoming hosts. Thanks Graham and Pippa. The loft was lovely, just the right size for a couple. Has all the facilities you need. Only thing missing is a washing machine. Not that we needed one. Very clean and well presented, great use of space. Wi-fi during our stay was a bit hit and miss. Great location for exploring local area. Will definitely stay again when back up in North Yorkshire.
