Sunny Mount is a beautiful 5 bedroom terraced home and we found it very clean and tidy on arrival.

It is a short stroll into town, beach and Teignmouth railway station. The kitchen with snug at one end has plenty of room, we were a party of 8 adults and 3 young children and there was ample space for dining and relaxing. A toilet and wet room at the other end of the kitchen is ideal for showering after a day on the beach. The kitchen facilities include large double electric cooker with gas hobs, washer and dryer, dishwasher, iron and ironing board, fridge freezer and hoover. Crockery etc accomodates large groups. Towels provided for each bedroom. The outdoor space is small but ample as we were out all day, it was a nice area to unwind in the evening. There is an additional front room which is also spacious with great views over Teignmouth. There are 2 TVs and media, Nintendo games available and DVDs, reading books. The 5 bedrooms have plenty of space and there are 4 toilets in the house altogether. There are a lot of stairs up to the top floor so the lower floor bedrooms would be better for anyone who has mobility issues. One small comment I would make is that the 2 top bedrooms seemed to have had a leak at sometime so there are small areas where the paint is peeling off but this didn't in anyway cause us problems. The property is situated in a quiet area, access is a little steep, again I make this comment for anyone with mobility issues. Sue the owner made us scones and left jam and clotted cream in the fridge, a lovely touch. Two car park passes are included so you can park 2 minutes walk away. Sue arranged for an extra pass as we had 3 cars, the passes allow you to park in any Teignbridge car park which is a bonus. Overall a lovely property, clean and tidy, great situation and the owner Sue very helpful, friendly and easy to contact.

This is a lovely positioned property but it is in need of some tlc.

The flooring upstairs squeeks everytime you move across it and is even louder at night. The beds are not comfortable, the twin room if you sit in the middle of the bed it pops up both ends and the springs get you when you turn over.. Both bedroom windows need some darker curtains or you get woken at sun up. The shower head is in need of replacing as it will not stay in position. The sofa bed is not comfy to sit on as the springs poke into your back and the matching chair the bottom seems to have dropped out of it. Apart from these groans it is a nice place to stay and in a lovely seaside village. Be aware that parking can be an issue. You are only allowed to stay in the Ness car park for 2 days. Parking is limited to one hour and no return in two between 9am-6pm. Wardens do check regularily. The London Inn has good food and the beer in the both the Ferry Boat and the London is excellent. The Ness is a lovely place to sit with wonderful views. The local Ferry is currently £2.00 each way but is set to increase and worth every penny. There are lots of places to see in the surrounding area and Dartmoor is just a stones throw away for those more venturous.

Needs much better instructions in binder eg.

Put rubbish out on Fridays for private company to collect - not picked up. No instructions re: bed linens/ towels when checking out. Kitchen - dirty. Fridge was dirty inside, kettle and toaster, actually everything in kitchen had a film of grime covering it. Old food ( peas) on counter when we arrived. Enough to put me off cooking there, and eating off plates/cutlery until had been put through the dishwasher. I did contact Sykes about this and have photos to back up my claims. One tea towel for 2 week stay! No bin liners. There are far better, and more organised, places to stay in Shaldon. Bathroom and bedrooms were clean, including bedding and towels. Location is great. Stairs barely wide enough to get a suitcase up. Skimpy on supplies left eg. 2 toilet rolls. Overall I got the impression the owners are cheap on the little things, and they need to change their cleaning company asap. Personally I would not return. Lots of other choices out there.

Hillcroft cottage is a delightful place to stay.

Welcoming, clean, tidy, comfy beds, great location to the village, beach walks and with an internal decor that is of a really good standard. A little hiccup with the wood and firelighters, but easily sorted once the office was contacted. (The only negative was the loo brush, which was rusty and had been used previously with the remnants still on it and had been left open, with the brush poking out. Not an issue, as it was wrapped in a bin liner and put outside for my stay, on the basis of health and hygiene reasons. Also, possibly a bit of maintenance needed on the bathroom sink tap, but otherwise a lovely bathroom.) I hope to return and will stay for longer next time, as the kitchen and bathroom are just my style. I heartily recommend this cottage for comfort, cleanliness and location. Be warned however, as parking in Shaldon is an issue.

Great accommodation for a large group.

Near all facilities so don't need to use the car once parked up. Very helpful owners. Only problem is the very close proximity to the train station across the road which was really very noisy at night and through the night for anyone sleeping at the front of the house (you don't hear it the same at the back). The Car parking permit is very useful in the car park at the end of the street, literally 2 mins walk. Also useful for parking free in places like Dawlish too. A couple of tips for the owners that would have helped us are:- A washing line to dry beach towels etc The deck chairs in back area were broken so no extra seating outside the back. Other than that the house is well equipped for a big family holiday.
