The owners were very helpful and communications good.
The Engine House was a little more remote than we had perhaps appreciated but it very quiet and had magnificent views from the gardens. The house was a little tardis and a good size. As it is set within the walls of the Quarry it was a little dark inside not helped by the weather! However there was lots of lighting throughout. At night it is pitch black so you really need a torch if you need the loo in the night and don't want to leave lights on. Absolutely wonderful for star gazing on a clear night though - we were blessed to have one of them! A few treats left in the fridge and on the side and a dog bed and blankets too. The bedrooms were well equipped with hanging space and chest of drawers but the bed was a little firm for our liking. Lots of blankets and extra pillows too. A well stocked kitchen with plenty of pots, pans and utensils for self catering. The dishwasher wasn't working whilst we were there but that had been communicated to us and an engineer did come out to try and fix it. A lovely bathroom with great shower over the bath. Open plan living including a TV, dining room table, a sofa and chair so seating for 4 adults which was comfortable. Good WiFi and a stock of games, books and DVDs on the side to choose from. We had a terrific storm whilst we were there which tripped the electrics. We tried fixing it but to no avail and Steven and Lucie came straight out when we called them. We unfortunately had to cut our stay short due to family illness back home and Lucie was very kind in her response. There were some nice walks from the Engine House and we enjoyed a walk up to the Quarry and learning the history of the building. A nice get away from it all holiday but i think a little too remote for us to return. However we would recommend to friends for a cosy short break in beautiful surroundings.

Lovely cottage in a great location for all the local dog friendly beaches. The cottage was well equipped and had a lovely homely feel. Plenty of logs for the fire (which we needed, despite it being June). The feathers pub is great and only 15mins walk away, the food is gorgeous. Sunday dinner was amazing. Holme beach is great because it’s not very busy so letting the dog off lead was brill. The White Horse at Brancaster Staithe is another great pub with awesome views. Burnham Market is nice. Wells, Brancaster and Holkham all great beaches too and well worth a visit. The cottage itself was very clean. The beds were really comfy, the shower was good. Ample parking. Coop only 10mins walk away. The garden really secure for your pooch. We’ve got a beagle and if there was anywhere to escape he would have found it. The shed was full of everything for the beach. There were also bikes!! Garden furniture was nice and comfy. On a negative side, there was no welcome pack (first time for us!) and there was only salt and pepper so go prepared. There wasn’t even a dishcloth! We did find foil and toilet rolls though. It’s a shame really or we would have given this a 10/10. Oh just one more thing, the stairs are steep and narrow. I actually tumbled down them one morning, which wasn’t pleasant. So just be aware. I would definitely visit again though, had a fab week!!!

We had a really lovely stay at Paddington Cottage. It is ideally located close to Sandringham, which has amazing dog friendly woodland walks, and the north norfolk coast with lots of dog friendly beaches. The dogs loved it, particularly the beach at Old Hunstanton which, when the tide is out is a dog’s paradise, with firm sand, perfect for ball games and walking on. The cottage itself was very cozy, had lots of additional equipment provided, was very warm, had comfy beds, and secure gardens. Lovely to have a log burner too. It was especially good to have a secure front garden as it meant our dogs could be cleaned and kept out of the house easily. This was useful because the front room is carpeted, but there were large mats down and so there wasn’t ever an issue. We would definitely return there, have already discussed future bookings, and would recommend it.

Close to the centre of the busy county town, Laurieknowe is a hidden gem. An oasis of restfulness. Comfortable, well equipped and clean. But it is the individuality of the place, the care and attention that has been put into the renovation and creation of the holiday house, that makes it very special. We loved the lovely artwork, the sympathetic renovation of the old coachhouse and the quirkiness. The garden is lovely and full of interest and although we didn't have the weather to sit out, if we did, it would have been perfect. Linda and Alex were great hosts, very helpful and attentive. We hope to come back next time we visit Dumfries.

1 Chequers Row in Friston is a comfortable and relaxing holiday cottage with an enclosed dog friendly garden. There is also good private parking with allocated spaces near the property with room to stop directly outside, ideal for unloading... The village pub offers excellent food and is highly recommended! There are several marked footpaths around the village which are great for dog walking. Saxmundham has two large supermarkets, nearby Aldeburgh is absolutely charming as is Southwold. So many other lovely places to visit and we (dog included) look forward to staying again.
